Course Objectives
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for manual and massage therapists, or any practitioner that utilizes hands-on techniques.
Why should you do this course?
The techniques in this course are used to increase the range of motion, decrease perceived stiffness, and reduce trigger points and myofascial pain. These techniques can be used before certain rehabilitation and physical therapy exercises to promote optimal movement and motor output. Soft tissue mobilizations are not a substitute for medical care, you should consult with a doctor before using these techniques on clients with acute, traumatic injuries, or pain from an unknown origin.
This course can also serve as a muscle anatomy and kinesiology refresher, as specific muscle actions, origins, and insertions will be covered, as well as the specific hands-on techniques to target them.
Head and neck soft tissue techniques can be used to alleviate pain and symptoms from:
- Tension Headaches
- Neck Pain
- Symptoms of TMJD
- Eye Strain
- Muscle spasm of the neck
- Forward Head Posture
What you will learn:
In this course, you will learn how to perform active and passive soft tissue mobilizations, as well as basic anatomy and kinesiology related to soft tissue care.
This course does not include assessments. Soft tissue mobilizations are generally safe and can be effective in improving the range of motion. The therapist should be familiar with optimal joint ranges of motion and use the appropriate assessment and clinical reasoning when applying soft tissue mobilizations for desired outcomes.
